How to Make a Crochet Heart – A Simple Spletka Tutorial

There’s something truly special about handmade pieces especially when they are made with love. That’s exactly why I wanted to create this tutorial: to show you that you can make your own beautiful crochet hearts, even if you’re just starting your crochet journey.

For me, crochet has always been more than just a craft. It’s a way to slow down, express creativity, and turn simple materials into something meaningful. And a small crochet heart is the perfect place to begin — simple, cute, and full of emotion.

Whether you want to use it as a gift, a small accessory, a keychain, or a decoration, this little heart can carry a lot of meaning. And the best part? You can say: “I made it myself.”

What You’ll Need

To create your crochet heart, you’ll need just a few basic materials:

  • Yarn (any color you love) - I used rainbow yarn
  • Crochet hook (size depending on your yarn)- I used 6mm
  • Scissors

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Start with a magic ring. This will be the base of your heart.

Into the ring, work the following stitches:

  • 3 chains
  • 2 double crochets
  • 2 half double crochets
  • 1 slip stitch
  • 2 chains
  • 2 half double crochets
  • 2 double crochets
  • 3 chains
  • slip stitch in magic ring
  • 3 chains
  • 6-7 single crochet in magic ring
  • 2 chains
  • 6-7 single crochet in magic ring
  • 3 chain

Do slip stitch to close the shape.

Fasten off your yarn and weave in the ends.

And just like that — you’ve created your very first crochet heart 🤍

A Small Reminder

Your first heart doesn’t have to be perfect. What matters is the process, the feeling, and the fact that you created something with your own hands.

I hope this tutorial inspires you to try something new, slow down for a moment, and enjoy the beauty of handmade creation.

Because sometimes, the smallest things — like a little crochet heart — can bring the biggest joy.
